Ballard JVC Team wins first game over Summit

Seattle, WA (AP) -- The Ballard’s Girls JVC basketball team had an impressive win over Summit Varsity team 40-14 last night.

After leading 19-8 at the half, the Ballard JVC team used a floor court press in the 3rd quarter to put the game away.  The Beavers were lead in scoring by the aggressive play of sophomore forward Candi Villa who had 11 points to go along with her 11 rebounds and four steals.  Freshmen point guard Haley Jackson scored 10 points and dished out 7 assists and had five steals.

“We didn’t do a very good job attacking the basket in the first half,” said Associate Head Coach Bryan Howisey. “The second half Shannon Murray shut down their top scorer and everyone started taking the ball to the basket.” Overall, it was a good team effort but we still have a lot to work on.”

Candi Villa 11, Haley Jackson 10, Jamie Thelen 6, Blair Morgan 5, Shannon Murray 2, Emily Graves 2, Alissa Ly 2, Allison Jackson 2.
